An Australian lawsuit frim,Bannister Law has filed two class actions for selling vehicles with cheat devices in Australia. They have filed this lawsuit in Federal Courts of Australia on the behalf of VW and Audi consumers who are using either Volkswagen or Audi diesel engines in their cars with emission defeat devices.

How Much Compensation Has Been Claimed?

The lawsuit has been filed on the behalf of car owners in Australia, and as expected, the claim for compensation will definitely be in billions of dollars. More than 100,000 cars with cheat devices have been reported in the filed lawsuit and said that these vehicles are using the defeat device.

Class action principal Charles Bannister has said in a statement that any statutory guarantee was not confirmed with the supplying of cars. Australian Consumer Law said that people are entitled to take a full purchase refund or recover a full price of the vehicle or alternatively a reasonable discount in the price of vehicle if they still wish to buy it.

Volkswagen has broadly admitted that they have deceived their customers across the globe. However, VW USA has apologised on this issue as well. In Australia, in October, the local subsidiaries of the group have also admitted that more than 100,000 cars including Polo, Golf, and other models with defeat devices had been sold. The defeat devices were installed to manipulate the emission controls. .
